Although purchased used with some wear on the coating of the front element, this lens is a favorite of mine and performs
terrifically! I've done astrophotography with this lens and stars are pinpoint corner to corner at F4
It also focuses quite close, which is a nice feature. A very solid chunk of glass.
Coating wear has no affect on final image that I have ever seen.

This is a fantastic lens, and in tests beat the Canon 70-200mm F2.8 L on a 1Ds Mk 2 body.
If there was some way to adapt this to a Nikon D3 I would never sell it!

** Front element has some wear marks on the coatings, but this doesn't affect image quality at all!

Known History of lens: I purchased it used. Lens foot was bent due to monopod section slip I was told by seller.
Lens had fungus and I sent it in to Olympus in NY for full service and cleaning! - I have the original paperwork on that!
Lens has been tested on film and on a Canon 1Ds Mark II 16.7mp digital body. This is a SHARP lens.
I will post links to the lens resolution chart that was used in the test.
If you download the image and look at the EXIF data you will see the test date and Camera tested on.

I can only image how nice this would be on the new Canon 1Ds Mark III - 21mp coming out this Dec. 2007
